Environmental and administrative contributions

As a Bebat participant, you pay an annual flat-rate contribution of €60 (excluding VAT). In addition, you pay an environmental contribution or administrative contribution per battery on the market (or per kg).

Environmental or administrative contribution?

As a Bebat participant, there are two types of contributions you may have to pay for your batteries: the environmental contribution and administrative contribution. Which one you have to pay depends on the batteries you offer on the market:

1

Environmental contribution

Batteries ≤ 20 kg, lead-acid batteries ≤ 3 kg, & ESS modules in an installation ≤ 16 MWh

2

Administrative contribution

Large batteries > 20 kg & lead-acid batteries > 3 kg

Environmental contribution

The environmental contribution is a comprehensive contribution for batteries up to and including 20 kg, lead-acid batteries up to and including 3 kg, and ESS modules for an installation of up to 16 MWh.

This contribution covers the costs for:

  • Registration with and reporting to the three regional governments
  • The financial guarantee
  • The collection, pickup, sorting, processing, recycling, reusing, or repurposing of discarded batteries
  • Prevention, building awareness, and communication

You must always state the environmental contributions, including the amount, on sales invoices sent to professional customers.

In addition, the environmental contribution varies depending on the battery’s chemical composition and weight.

For retroactive declarations, the environmental contribution that was valid at the time the battery or device with a battery was offered on the market applies.

Administrative contribution

The administrative contribution applies to batteries heavier than 20 kg and lead-acid batteries heavier than 3 kg.

This contribution only covers the costs for:

  • Registration with and reporting to the three regional governments
  • Prevention, building awareness, and communication

This contribution does not cover the costs for:

  • The financial guarantee
  • The collection, pickup, sorting, processing, recycling, reusing, or repurposing of discarded batteries

Why not?

Because no one uniform price is possible in this case, as the price depends on the battery’s weight, chemical composition, state of health, the necessary packaging, and the service requested.

We would be happy to review which service best suits your needs to help you comply with these obligations too.
