Environmental contributions
The environmental contribution is a comprehensive contribution for batteries up to and including 20 kg, lead-acid batteries up to and including 3 kg, and ESS modules in an installation of up to 16 MWh. This contribution covers the costs incurred by Bebat to ensure that its participants comply with the Extended Producer Responsibility.
Current rates
The environmental contribution rates vary according to battery type. Note: in some cases, you don’t pay per unit, but per kilogram. Moreover, you do not pay an environmental contribution above a certain weight, but you do pay an administrative contribution.

If you are a member of Bebat, you contribute to a sustainable future. With your environmental contribution, we ensure a complete approach to your Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in Belgium:
- Registration with and reporting to the three regional governments
- The financial guarantee
- Collection, pickup, sorting, processing, recycling, reusing, or repurposing discarded batteries
- Prevention, building awareness, and communication
