Are batteries playing hide-and-seek?

Are batteries playing hide-and-seek?

Did you know that, on average, there are 30 used batteries hiding in your house? Batteries are absolutely everywhere these days... even if you don’t actually see them. From the batteries in your headset to your drill and electric bike, you may not see them, but they’re there. By making these ‘invisible batteries’ visible again in a very simple way, we at Bebat want to help everyone to recycle truly all batteries in the future.

We Belgians are world champions in collecting batteries. And that’s good news because Bebat gives all those collected batteries a new life by extracting the metals and other materials and reusing them in other applications: zinc and steel for such things as watering cans, tricycles and wheelbarrows. Nickel, carbon, steel, titanium, cobalt, lead and plastic for glasses, alarm clocks, cooking pots and more.

Invisible batteries

Being world champion is great, of course, and something we should all be proud of. But staying world champion, that’s a different kettle of fish. After all, there are more and more batteries that we are overlooking. Batteries that we are consequently failing to adequately recycle. We could call these ‘invisible batteries’. They’re found in items like your electric toothbrush, tablet and Bluetooth speaker.

Bebat wants to recover the materials and rare metals from all these ‘invisible batteries’ as well, so that they will not have to be mined from nature. However, that means that we all need to make a collective effort to collect them.

No more hide-and-seek

At Bebat we want to help everyone as much as possible to collect every single battery. To make this easier, Bebat is introducing a new icon, a simple and efficient way to make ‘invisible batteries’ visible to everyone! You’ll see this new icon in our newest advertising campaign.

This new icon also makes all of us a lot more aware of just how many ‘invisible batteries’ are actually around us! And that’s a good thing because the more aware we are of these ‘invisible batteries’, the more effort we will make to collect them. That in turn is better for the environment. And what’s good for the environment is good for us. At the end of the day, that’s all that really matters, right?

All of us contributing our part – battery by battery. Today and tomorrow. Visible and invisible. Because recycling batteries is something you do for each other.
